” A 99 for the bride please” at Little Fistral Beach.
Newlyna and Adam’s wedding at the Atlantic Hotel, Newquay on Sunday May 19th with camper van ‘Showgirl’ Lola.
Sunday weddings are becoming more popular with couples. Here at Strawberry Leisure, we have certainly seen a steady increase over the past couple of years.
Political stories continued to grab the front pages of the ‘quality’ rags the Sunday that Newlyna and Adam got married. Last week Europe; in/out/referendum was done to death. Today’s news; someone ‘close’ to the P.M. allegedly called party activists ‘swivel-eyed loons’ and the papers were full of it.
Apparently a phrase meaning ‘untrustworthy’ rather than a nervous eye affectation of sorts!
There was nothing untrustworthy about the weather today. Whilst we didn’t get the ‘Sunday Roast’ many were expecting, it did remain dry and partly sunny throughout, albeit a bit chilly in exposed parts!
Following a busy Saturday, with all three girls on ceremonial duty, Lulu and Lily were enjoying a lay-in, whilst ‘Showgirl’ Lola was being prepared for another ‘wedding-stage’ appearance, writes Chauffeur Bob…
A gentle royal hand waving chug a couple of junctions up the A30 from Strawberry Leisure HQ found us at our Camborne pick up address – the bridal boudoir, bang on time at 12.30pm.
Newlyna with Dad Simon, and Mum Liz, just before departure.
First out the door to greet us and confirm we’d found the right place, was Newlyna’s dad, Simon.
Further introductions ensued as I entered the industrious boudoir; Newlyna’s mum, Liz, followed by Newlyna, looking absolutely stunning and just about ready for action. Bridesmaids followed; Nicola and Tasha, one whom I immediately recognised from Andy and Debbie’s wedding back in March. Clearly Tash is in training as a professional bridesmaid!
Newlyna with Tasha and Nicola.
David Wilkins of Alchemy Photography, the couple’s chosen picture taker for the occasion, was diligently capturing the excitement and nerves!
By 12.40 we were all outside, posing for a few final snaps before leaving in the warm midday sun.
A few minutes later we set off in search of the Atlantic Hotel in the county’s surfing capital, Newquay, spectacularly located just a pebble’s throw from Fistral beach.
Following a 45 minute fun filled, klaxon sounding and royal hand waving chug we pulled-up alongside the hotel’s red carpet at 1.30 precisely.
Photographer, David, was joined by his wife Christine to record our spectacular topless arrival.
All of Lola’s VIP’s were upstanding for some truly memorable and unique poses.
Lorraine Stones, the hotel’s wedding and events coordinator was there to greet us, along with two Registrar ladies.
That special moment has come!
A brief conversation of the ‘Registrar’ kind followed and after a few deep breaths, the bridal party gracefully made their way down the red carpet, into the hotel and Newlyna’s appointment of a lifetime with Adam.
About 30 minutes later, Videographer Kelly, from ‘Four Elementz’ came over for a quick chat and to say that the newlyweds had been joined by their guests around the back of the hotel on the terrace for drinkies and photos.
A few pictures from the terrace…
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Viggers!
Lola took a slow chug round to the back of the hotel to join the party, and as ever was an instant hit with everyone. Her ragtop roof was fully retracted, the sun was shining (well occasionally) ‘Ukuleles’ were strumming and singing away from within, creating a wonderful ‘heady’ atmosphere.
Like so many venues in Cornwall, The Atlantic Hotel, boasts a vista to die for and David and Christine were busy making full use of the setting for some imaginative poses.
As always on such occasions, time seems to run away and before you know it, reception, line-up, speeches and food is knocking on the door. Today was no exception, but fortunately we did manage to pop the champers and get Mr. and Mrs. Viggers along with David and Christine down to ‘Little Fistral’ beach for a few, but very memorable moments in and around Lola.
A few of the lovely moments down at Little Fistral beach…
A tremendous reception awaited us as we returned to the hotel about 20 minutes later. I popped ‘It’s a beautiful day’ into the CD player and cranked up the volume, as Newlyna and Adam remained standing throughout our final approach receiving cheers, applause and screams from their excited guests.
A truly, wonderful and memorable day was had by all; Lola and me included!
Very best wishes to a lovely couple x.
