Leighann and Lucy’s Civil Partnership Occasion at the Blue Bar Porthtowan on Saturday 8th June 2013 with campervan Lulu.
The headlines in the ‘quality’ papers on Leighann and Lucy’s special day centered on two ageing international household names, both hospitalized, The Duke of Edinburgh and Nelson Mandela, 92 and 94 respectively. Here in the Duchy, The Royal Cornwall Show was in full swing and dominated the local news.
Flaming June was still going strong, miraculously one week into it as Chauffeur Steff jumped aboard our flaming red Lulu and headed for the popular Blue Bar at Porthtowan for the occasion of Leighann and Lucy’s Civil partnership.
As you will see, a frolicking, fun-filled time lay in store as Chauffeur Steff reports…
The strange thing is that wedding schedules last year dictated that I hardly drove Lulu, however this season I’m more than making up for it!
Setting off from Strawberry Leisure’s HQ nice and early to avoid the holiday and Royal Cornwall Show traffic, my first of many pick ups was at the St Agnes Hotel in St Agnes, where Leighann and Lucy were eagerly awaiting us.

Suffice it to say, they weren’t disappointed because at the stroke of 11am Lulu came chugging around the corner and pulled up to a gentle halt at the front of the hotel.
Leighann and Lucy were so excited that they let out a few screams of delight.
Initial introductions over, everyone joined Lulu and a photo ‘frenzy’ of poses began. I know our regular readers won’t be surprised to learn that, yes, we caused yet another traffic jam in the centre of St. Agnes! However, holiday-makers and onlookers alike were clearly loving the commotion too!
Leighann, Lucy and guests opted for a more relaxed, contemporary wedding theme, with a distinct seaside/beach twist. Even the extremely hot weather played its part too (well, extreme to what we have been accustomed to of late!) Indeed, they couldn’t have planned for better.

Our first trip was to the Blue Bar with Leighann and Lucy, who were eagerly excited to get going. So without any further ado we set off, Lulu’s impressive stereo rocking away and plenty of honking of her klaxon.
As we pulled into Porthtowan we continued through the village down to the sea and gently eased Lulu on to the sand for the last part of the journey.
The Blue bar is right on the beach and only feet away from the sea. Unsurprisingly, we caused quite a stir (in the nicest sort of way) when for a few moments the tranquility of this small seaside haven was broken by Lulu, her mesmerising arrival and of course her infamous Klaxon!
With Leighann and Lucy now safely deposited, I returned to St Agnes to perform the first of a number of runs with guests to the Blue Bar.
On each occasion one of the guest’s was nominated as DJ and the fun began.

By the time the ferrying was completed and all the guests ensconced for the ceremony, a large crowd of smiling and waving onlookers had gathered from the beach to see what all the commotion was about. The wedding party really did feel like rock stars, come royalty!
During the ceremony I was able to give Lulu a fresh wipe-down and strategically position her ready for some poses after the ceremony.
Just then, Leighann and Lucy appeared on the balcony as newlyweds sporting identical rings and matching smiles.
A pop of the cork and we toasted the happy couple to the applause of the guests and onlookers.
With the actual reception taking place at the Blue Bar, all that remained of our involvement was a few final photos so that everyone would remember the day.
So with Lulu positioned nicely and the sea in the background some final, wonderful memories were undoubtedly captured.
A few final fun poses …
In true British seaside tradition, everyone had fun in the sun.
Our very best wishes go to a real fun-loving couple x.
