Grace and Aaron’s wedding at St Piran’s Church, Perranzabuloe, on Saturday 31st August 2013 with ‘showgirl’ Lola.
Another fine weather wedding day heralded Chauffeur Steff’s departure from Strawberry Leisure HQ in our flirtatious showgirl Lola. Destination Perranporth and a few places in between for the wedding of Grace and Aaron.
The civil war in Syria continued to dominate the front pages on the day that our happy couple tied the knot. As did the news that house prices are rising at a rate of £500 per month!
On this day in 1422 King Henry V died whilst on business in France. Meanwhile back here in ‘Blighty’ his son Henry VI is crowned king at the tender age of nine months!
Today in 2006 Norwegian police recovered Edvard Munch’s famous painting ‘The Scream’, previously stolen in August 2004.
Screams of fun and excitement lead us nicely into Chauffeur Steff’s report…
Seaside weddings are always popular but one area that I don’t often get to is Perranporth.
It’s a real gem and the local parish church is simply quaint.
It was indeed a pleasure and an honour therefore today to be entrusted, along with Lola, to play an important part in the wedding of Grace and Aaron.
It was destined from the outset be a busy day logistically, as Lola had quite a few pickups to complete before the ceremony. The more pickups there are, the more complex it becomes. There are plenty of factors that need to be taken into account, particularly timings, as one slip here or there soon compounds to add a bit of pressure and spice to the occasion!
Thankfully this was not going to be the case today, as I found out when I went to pick up the Groom and his party.
Clearly a lot of thought had gone in to the transportation or ‘transportainment’, as we like to call it and Aaron was well prepared for his departure time.
Accompanied by best men (James + Nicky), the groom’s dad (Gary), and ushers (Glen and Dean) we set off to St. Piran’s Church, just a few miles away.
Chugging along to the sounds of the Beach Boys, we made our way along the promenade honking Lola’s Klaxon and waving at mesmerized pedestrians. En-route we had to pass Grace’s bridal boudoir, so we gave her a good long blast of Lola’s Klaxon for good measure.
With the lads now safely at the church, I returned to collect the first of several runs from Grace’s place to the church.
Waiting in excited anticipation were bridesmaids Emily, Kelly, Kirsty, Toya, Libby, Alison and Kate, along with Grace’s mum, Angie, flower girls Emma and Sophie and not forgetting paige boys Jacob, Jayden and Kai – phew!
Although the church was only one mile away, it can take a considerable amount of time when you are negotiating a famously rare and valuable VW camper around narrow country lanes. Nonetheless, several trips later and it was time for Grace and her proud dad Kevan.
An excited bride and father were waiting on the driveway. Grace looked stunning in her ‘ball-gown’ style satin white dress, quietly chatting away with her dad as we chugged the short distance towards her life changing appointment. Upon arrival, there was time for a few customary ‘arrival’ photographs before the bridal party disappeared inside the church and the ceremony got underway.
Time seemed to fly by as bell ringers swung into action, officially announcing the union of Aaron and Grace Sanders, but before they could enjoy the traditional champagne toast in Lola, it was time for a few formal photos in the setting of the church grounds.
Guests poured out and jumping into cars, sped off to the reception at The Seiners Arms, Perranporth in a ‘Le Mans’ style start.
And they’re off to the reception!
Eventually Aaron and Grace were free to take a toast and a trip to the seaside.
The only challenge was now how Grace could get onto the beach wearing high heels… Luckily for her, all of our classic VW campers come equipped with Strawberry Leisure wellies or ‘Weddington Boots’ as we call them. With Grace now fully attired for the beach, they set off to the furthest point in pursuit of the late afternoon sunlight and more happy memories to cherish.
Congratulations to a lovely couple from all of us at Strawberry Leisure x.
