Anita and Bill’s wedding on Tuesday 27th August 2013 at the Headland Hotel, Newquay, with Lola and Lily.
Fine, late summer weather, coupled with our unique, celebrity topless duo, Lola and Lily made for a truly fabulous occasion. Anita and Bill couldn’t have asked for more; head-turning attention, fun, sun, sea and lashings of ‘pazzaz’.
A few ‘lighter’ snippets of news the day our happy couple tied the knot included… reports of an invasion of ‘killer shrimp’ to our waterways, threatening our native species.
Zookeepers at Edinburgh Zoo are reported to be 99 per cent certain that Giant Panda, Tian Tian will be giving birth within a week. Apparently she’s been displaying all of the classic signs; piling on the pounds, sleeping 16 hours a day and smothering herself in honey!
A few memorable dates this day in history saw Britain defeat Zanzibar in a thirty-eight minute war. Kicking off at 9.02am, it finished at 9.40am. The year was 1896.
2003 saw the planet Mars make its closest approach to Earth in 60,000 years.
Finally, last but not least, this day in 19XX, Chauffeur Bob was born in Luton.
Back to Anita and Bill’s big day as Chauffeur Bob picks up the story…
Chauffer Steff took to the helm of Lily and yours truly in Lola, for an early afternoon chug over to Porth, Newquay.
A little after 2pm we found ourselves parked-up in the visitors/arrivals area. Our presence certainly didn’t go unnoticed as our customary wipe over, tidying of bows and removal of a few unfortunate flies, not forgetting a quick wash behind our ears was attracting quite an audience.
It was 2.30pm precisely.
The cameras came out to officially record the start of the day’s proceedings.
Numerous poses ensued in and around our topless duo before finally setting off in spectacular convoy in a blaze of klaxon sounding and hand waving glory, our destination being Newquay’s omnipresent Headland Hotel.
Bridesmaids Tia, Ellie, Casey, Becca and Emma along with Paige Boy, Lima and close family friend, Sarah (official picture taker for the day) lead the charge in Lily.
Anita with proud dad, Brian joined me in Lola.
We arrived pretty much on schedule some 15 minutes or so before kick off. The hotel’s friendly staff were there to warmly meet and greet our VIP’s.
A final few pre-nuptial poses later, Anita was escorted away for her all-important meeting with the Registrar and within twenty minutes or so, the ceremony was underway.
Chauffeur Steff and I ‘busied’ ourselves with the usual routine of preparing the vehicles for post ceremony – champers, glasses, ‘just married’ bunting and more wipe-overs etc.
Goodness knows how many conversations and photographs we had with passers-by, holidaymakers and hotel guests, all eager to drill into tremendous detail about Lola and lily.
Following the ceremony, ‘drinkies’ were taken outside on the terraced lawn area spectacularly perched overlooking Fistral Beach. A tipple or two later and everyone disappeared inside for a cream tea, and no doubt, a tipple chaser!
Amidst a party atmosphere, the newly appointed Mr. & Mrs. Cleverley along with their entourage, emerged once more and made their way over to our flirtatious duo. I popped the ‘champers’ whilst Chauffeur Steff snapped away like a man possessed – he does love a good wedding.
With some lovely memories safely in the can, so to speak, we rounded off a memorable day with a trip in Lola and Lily down to nearby ‘Little Fistral’ beach.
Here the party and photos continued for some time before finally departing for Porth; the very place from where it all started a few hours earlier.
No doubt the partying was destined to continue for some time afterwards!
Our very best wishes go to a lovely couple and thank you for sharing your special, fun day with us x.
