Christina and Kerryn’s wedding at St.Michael’s Church, Helston, on Saturday 5th October 2013 with Lola
Throughout our five years of doing the best job in the world we have sprung countless number of surprises. Indeed, more than you could shake a chauffeur at! Each one lovingly and carefully orchestrated and their executions enormously moving.
Today’s was certainly no exception… the screams of excitement and dances of joy were enough to melt even the most stoney hearted person. Well, as you are most probably aware, I’m an unashamed romantic and yes, such was Christina’s effusive outpouring of excitement and disbelief, I was secretly moved to a few clandestine tears!
It all came about thanks to Christina’s proud parents, David and Lyn who diligently and secretly conspired to spring the surprise. Indeed, David was so taken with the success of the occasion, he was very quick off the mark to send in this lovely thank you…
A reasonably bright and dry October day lay ahead for Christina and Kerryn’s moving occasion, albeit overcast from time to time.
Not a great deal was going on in terms of noteworthy, history making news the day that our happy couple tied the knot. The front pages were awash with a mishmash of articles ranging from escalating energy prices to Sir Bruce pulling out of Stricly Come Dancing with flu – enough said!
A few factoids from this day in history include the following:
1796 – Spain declares war on England
1936 – The Jarrow March sets off for London
Appropriately, this very same day in 1962, the Beatles released their first record; ‘Love Me Do’ – a lovely, apt lead-in to Christina and Kerryn’s wonderful day writes Chauffeur Bob…
Lola was of course born amidst the era of Beatle mania. Who would have thought that 50 years later, she would be creating her own unique brand of euphoria week after week for such happy occasions.
Lola stealthily pulled to halt at 11.15am as planned, just a hop, skip and a jump from Christina’s busy bridal boudoir. ‘Kate’s Den’, as it is named, is located out in the sticks not too far from Helston and it was here that father of the bride, David, spotted my arrival, despite my flying under the radar so to speak – he was quick out of the door to greet us.
There was just about enough time for a quick wipe over of Lola and to get her strategically positioned before the bridal party emerged.
I’m sure Kerryn, if he had been listening, would have heard his bride’s screams of surprise and joy from a few miles away in Helston!
Flower Girl, Emily, along with Bridesmaid, Chloe, joined Christina and her proud dad, David, for a few poses with Lola before departing separately for the church. Meanwhile, Christina and David boarded Lola and were making themselves comfortable for what turned out to be a most beautiful and touching journey of a lifetime.
Professional picture takers for the day were Matt and Paul from Matthew Fox Photography, between them capturing the bridal party’s departure and arrival at St Michael’s Church in Helston, home of the ‘Furry Dance’.
We paused a few hundred yards from the church to wind open Lola’s now famously rare ‘ragtop’. The sun beamed whilst father and daughter shared a few final pre nuptial thoughts, no doubt amidst a few deep breaths for composure. We made our final approach to be warmly received at the stepped church entrance by the friendly Vicar.
Approximately 55 minutes or so later and overflowing with happiness, Christina and Kerryn descended the very same steps as Mr. and Mrs. Husk.
The newlyweds climbed aboard a topless Lola and stood to receive an outpouring of love, affection and congratulations from their friends, families and honoured guests.
With the ‘champers’ now flowing and Mr. and Mrs. Husk still standing and waving, we departed in regal style for St. Ives Bay.
Our penultimate stop was Carbis Bay, where Christina and Kerryn had a few moments to stroll on the beach, reflect on the day’s events so far and capture a few precious post nuptial moments, alone and in beautiful surroundings.
Happy honeymoon in Italy!
Our very best wishes go to a lovely couple x.
