The wedding of Adele Bredin and Henry Hallett at Tregenna Castle, St Ives, Cornwall, on Easter Sunday 20th April 2014, with ‘Showgirl’ Lola

The weather could have been better – a lot better in fact! Chilly, windy and wet at times is what ‘mother nature’ had in store for us all today but Adele, Henry and everyone involved still had a thumping good time, including our ever-popular Chauffeur Steff!

Instead a mishmash of news ranging from energy refunds for thousands, (have you had yours yet?), Miranda to host and bring back The Generation Game (nice to see her!) and the world is on the precipice of a wheat crisis (best go gluten free in future!).

On this day in history…

1906 – Fires as a result of the San Francisco earthquake brought under control.

1957 – Replica of the Mayflower sets sail, recreating the original journey of 1620

2012 – Mexico’s volcano, Popocatepeti erupts

2014 – Adele Bredin becomes Mrs. Hallett after marrying Henry…

Which leads us nicely into today’s wonderful occasion – Chauffeur Steff made haste with Lola in an eastwardly direction with Foxhole, somewhere near St Austell, programmed into his portable Sat Nav. He picks up the story…

The weather is always a key point on wedding days and we all know how unpredictable the great British weather is at the best of times but Adele wasn’t going to let this get in the way of her special day. So upon arrival at the bridal boudoir it was pleasing to meet a very determined and excited bride.

As we had quite a journey in front of us I’d made up a new playlist for Lola in the hope that some of the songs would help break the journey up. Yep! After just a few yards, the bridesmaids (Zoey, Sophia, Katie, Cara-Maisie and Georgie) were singing along all the way to the dramatic wedding setting of Tregenna Castle in St Ives. I have to mention that Adele’s proud dad, Richard, was clearly enjoying himself too.

The ceremony lasted about 45 minutes and was followed by drinks and nibbles but the weather had worsened and the rain was relentless. This meant that the plans for photos in St Ives were likely to be cancelled.

As everything unfolded, I could see a break in the weather far out at sea and it looked as if we would benefit from a small window of opportunity if we timed it right.

With this in mind, I coordinated with Henry and Adele and just as the rain eased a little, we chugged down to St Ives in the hope that the weather would hold off long enough – fortunately we couldn’t have timed it better!

Official picture taker today was photographer Dave Hunter who certainly had his work cut out dealing with the elements; something professionals become adept at, particularly working in Cornwall!

A much welcome interlude in the level of sogginess enabled photos on the beach and the pier, along with a royal hand waving jolly through the tiny streets of St Ives, all before the rain regrouped and returned for another soaking.

Every cloud has a silver lining, so they say and we all took full advantage of it!

Our very best wishes go to a smashing couple x.
