The wedding of Karen Thomas and Andy Lingley on Saturday 12th April 2014 at King Charles The Martyr Church, Falmouth, with ‘party-girl’ Lily
A brace of beautiful weddings today saw ‘showgirl’ Lola under the auspices of our ever-popular Chauffeur Steff on an eastbound chug to Boconnoc, where Nicki and Philip would be tying the knot at 2pm.
Meanwhile, ‘party-girl’ Lily with yours truly, Chauffeur Bob at the pedals, made haste to downtown Threemilestone in search of Karen’s bridal boudoir.
The headline news this week was pretty much dominated by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their royal tour of Australia and New Zealand with the young Prince George in tow.
Celebrity birthdays today yielded a musical note or two: David Cassidy singer (64), Guy Berryman of Coldplay (36) along with Herbie Hancock jazz pianist, bandleader and composer (74).
On this day in history:
1861 – The American Civil War kicked off
1961 – Soviet Union fired the first man into space; Yuri Gagarin
Back to the matter in hand and;
2014 – Karen Thomas weds Andy Lingley
As is now the norm and aided by my ‘deft’ multi-tasking abilities, I was able to get a number of snaps away with my blogging Box Brownie throughout the day, thereby forming a memorable pictorial record of the proceedings.
Little by way of commentary is therefore necessary, other than a quick run down of the important details and, of course, the main cast.
Firstly though an explanation is in order…
As you’ll be able to deduce from the photos, Karen and Andy’s beautiful day took on a distinct ‘Avengers’ twist. We are of course talking about the cult ‘spi-fi’ British TV series that ran from 1961 through to 1969 and definitely not the Hillman Avenger!
It would appear that Andy’s passion for the series was known by all, judging by the John Steed lookalikes that gathered to give the happy couple a bowler hat and umbrella guard of honour as they emerged from the church.
Unfortunately, I remember the original series oh too well and, although considerably young at the time, I seemed to develop a boyhood crush on Emma Peel, Steed’s intelligent, stylish and assertive assistant – phew! Anyways…
The wedding took place at King Charles The Martyr Church, Falmouth against a backdrop of a large guest contingent and a significant gathering of uninvited onlookers and well wishers, all eager to catch a glimpse of the bride’s arrival and the couple’s departure.
Karen’s proud dad, Terry, escorted his daughter in Lily from the family home to the altar, accompanied by an equally proud mum, Jane, along with beautiful bridesmaids, Kat and Rebecca.
Official picture takers for the day were husband and wife team Keith Riley and Neda, who were clearly having a field day considering the fabulous atmosphere, Lily and The Avengers twist!
Following the ceremony the newly appointed Mr. and Mrs. Lingley jumped aboard Lily. Champers quickly followed, before making a spectacular topless getaway with the joyous couple upstanding and glasses raised throughout.
As guests departed for a country fayre themed reception at ‘Chy Cara’, near Carnon Downs, we headed off in the direction of nearby Gyllingvase Beach.
Here Karen and Andy went walkabouts and whilst collecting sand between their toes, photographers Keith and Neda once again set about their art.
The sun started to break through as we arrived at picturesque Chy Cara. The ‘country fayre’ was well underway and amidst flying wellies we said our goodbyes.
A two City honeymoon taking in Bath and Paris awaits.
Our love and best wishes go with them x.

Andy and I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you and Lily for helping make our day so very memorable. Lily looked so beautiful and turned heads wherever she went. I was amazed by all the toots and well wishes from passers by. We can’t stop smiling whenever we think about it.
You were so very calm, friendly and positive throughout and really helped us in so many ways. We adore campervans so to have Lily there on our wedding day was purely perfect.
If you ever need references or recommendations we will be delighted to provide as you were so professional and helpful throughout.
Thank you so very much!
