Conscious that our current website is showing its age, it was designed 4-5 years ago after all, we have just made a significant investment into a complete re-design. Cornwall’s highly acclaimed Luke Burford of Lunamedia will undertake our new brief and is working to a go-live target date of December 1st. As well as taking on a whole new feel aesthetically, significant technical improvements are being made to bring it bang up to date with contemporary trends, aimed at optimising its user friendliness whether you’re browsing on a Blackberry, iPhone, tablet PC or full size screen.
Very pawsible!
Due to popular demand, Wilf will also be featuring in our new design themes as well as making the occasional endorsement! So keep an eye out for Wilf!

What do you think of this new Microbus concept from VW, modelled on the original T2?
We’d certainly buy one straight away to work alongside Lola, Lily, Lulu and Mr. Darcy… really cute!

Lola in her usual flirtatious mood outside Ludgvan Church today
Saturday 22nd October and another fabulous autumn day. Amy & Stephen must have planned the weather well in advance for their special day or most probably more to do with my early morning sun dance around Lola… not a pretty sight!
Ludgvan Church, Marazion for photos and the Sand Bar at Praa Sands for the reception was the ‘order of service’ for the day.

Amy and Stephen sapping up the atmosphere on Marazion beach
The paparazzi, alias Andrew Rowe and Helen snapped away like fury from start to finish - we can’t wait to see the results.
Lola was her usual flirtatious self. Mind you, she did look absolutely ravishing in the intense autumnal light. As ever, she managed to solicit the usual superlative comments and a recurring question… “how do you get her to shine like she does?” OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is chauffeur Bob’s retort – I polish her, and all of her siblings come to that, each and every time they go out on parade.
A few more snaps from the day ahead of the ones taken by the pro’s…

Scanning through the latest edition of Cornwall’s Wed Magazine, a sensational picture of our celebrity status campervan Lola leaped off the page!
The ice cool image of Lola with her full-length sunroof rolled back (ragtop in VW speak) and front windows up (safaris), illustrates why many couples favour fun and originality over predictability.
This wonderful image was captured by Ashley Hampson Wedding Photography and, as you can see, it has been chosen for their featured advertisement.
Obviously, not only a couple’s dream car but a photographer’s as well!

Cue… an opportunity for a few words about our unique ragtops…

Lily & Lola – head and shoulders above other campervans!
Not all VW split-screen campervans are the same. Quality is an obvious differentiator and a good reason to view, if possible, before you book. However, most don’t have full-length sunroofs or ragtops, as they are referred to in VW terminology. With the exclusion of the lesser spotted and rare SAMBA, such as our cream and white beauty, Lily, most are ‘Kombi’s’, the vast majority of which are tin tops.
Our Lola is also extremely rare and unique in this respect as she is believed to be the only Kombi in the UK with an original factory fitted ragtop. So in Lily and Lola, Strawberry Leisure is proud to own the only two cream and white sunroof wedding and special occasion hire splitties in the county of Cornwall, offering simply stunning and memorable photo opportunities with lashings of light – a photographers dream!

Blurry eyed but bushy tailed following another busy weekend of fab weddings, we pointed Lily towards the rising sun and chugged in true splitty style up the A30 to Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club’s wedding fayre. You see, despite a sensible Sunday start time of 11am, we always need to arrive at least a month of Sundays before hand to set up our display equipment and plumb-in the kitchen sink!
We left home on schedule at 08:00 hours only to realise after the ‘in- transit’ flight briefing (have you packed the bows and ribbons, tickets and passports etc?) my wife had forgotten to load a vital piece of display equipment. Following a brief A30 domestic it was about turn at Camborne and with that unmistakable sense of deja vu we set off again, albeit 30 minutes later than intended.
11am arrived and somehow we had miraculously managed to clean Lily, set up our display equipment, plumb-in the hot and cold running water and change out of our civies!

Lily raring to go at 11.00 am
Customers immediately started to file through to be greeted with the tantilsing waft of the venue’s Sunday carvery getting up steam. Mid morning, and our hosts dished out menus with a 5 star recommendation to try the ‘Carvery Bap’, complete with roast tattys and a yorky – we immediately ditched our pre-packed Marmite sandwiches!

Suffice it to say we had a great day, the sun shone and Lily won the hearts and minds of many - all washed down with a bap to remember…
Sincere thanks to all at the Lanhydrock Hotel, Golf and Carvery Bap Club for their friendly hospitality and a thumping good wedding fayre.
We will certainly be ’BAP’ in February!

‘An April Day in September’ was how we described in our recent blog the showery and gusty day Helen and Steve experienced for their wedding on the 17th September. Their ceremony at Breague Church was followed by a reception at The Old Coastguard, Mousehole. En-route to the reception in Lily with photographer, Andrea Michele in tow, we headed for some royal hand waving through Marazion and a stop off opposite St Michaels Mount for a photo call. Despite frequent and torrential downpours, the weather eventually perked-up. Helen and Steve had a simply wonderful time and, as you will see, Andrea managed to get some fab shots…
Oh, nearly forgot to mention a few words of chauffeur Bob’s wisdom…
“I always make a point of speaking personally to the bride or groom a day or two before each wedding to run through the final details and invariably the forecast for the day in question raises its head. My advice is always the same – whatever the weather, don’t let it stop you doing what you want to do. If you’ve planned to go to the beach or other beauty spot for some photos make sure you get there. You’ll still capture some magical and unique moments. Make every minute of your special day count, after all, it’s not a rehearsal!”

Put your stamp on the day and long after with our…
Wedding & Special Occasion Gift List
Quintessentially original…
Designed, themed and personalised exclusively for Strawberry Leisure’s clients

This is going to be no ordinary gift list!
Weddings today are all about individuality. Traditional predictability has been replaced with originality and, understandably, the desire of couples to put their own stamp on the proceedings.
We have the tendency to forget many things over time, but never how we are made to feel. There perhaps lies in this sentiment a clue to the widespread desirability our unique VW’s enjoy…
Thrilling, exciting, and very often moving, goes some way to describe the privilege of frequently being able to gauge at first hand the extra dynamic our stunning vehicles have brought to weddings and other special occasions.
How wonderful it would be if we could ‘bottle’ every occasion, letting the contents spill out time and time again to relive those special emotions. Although this particular science remains elusive, we have, nonetheless, been working very hard behind the scenes on a very special project…
We will shortly be publishing a wedding and special occasion gift list with that Strawberry Leisure twist of originality and unsurpassed quality.

Strawberry Leisure sets uncompromising high standards. It is therefore not surprising to learn that we proved to be a particularly demanding customer for the filming of our own promo video.
Despite this, we were so impressed with Dove Films customer-facing and enthusiastically friendly ethos. The ‘proof of the pudding is in the eating,’ and through their creativity skills and technical ability, they produced amazing results for us. Results, we hasten to add that never fail to draw positive comments, even from professionals!
We were not surprised in the slightest to hear that Dove Films were a Media Innovation Awards Winner in 2007 and a 2011, West Country Wedding Awards finalist.
So we thought it was about time we set about negotiating special videography packages and rates for our clients.
We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending DOVE Films to all of our customers. Given the standards Strawberry Leisure adhere to, that’s no mean feat!

Tune in to Strawberry Leisure TV on this website and take a look at Channels 1 and 2 for examples of their handiwork… we’re sure you’ll be hooked and a step closer to bringing your historic day back to life for years come!
